Frequently Asked Questions
At Bridge House, we understand the importance of finding the perfect home-away-from-home for your dogs. That’s why we’ve compiled a list of frequently asked questions to address any queries or concerns you may have.
Whether it’s your pup’s first time staying with us or they’re already part of our extended family, we’re here to ensure that every tail is wagging and every pet parent feels confident in their choice of Bridge House Boarding Kennels.
Can we view the kennels?
Yes of course you can. We feel it is important you meet the people looking after your dog whilst they stay with us as well as see where it is they will be staying.
Viewings are by APPOINTMENT ONLY for several reasons.
Our priority is giving our time and attention to the dogs staying with us, exercising, cleaning and feeding so that we can give them the best experience without interruption.
Appointments mean that we can make sure everyone is attended to and settled first which then gives us the time to spend with you for your viewing, showing you around, answering questions and meeting your dog if you wish to bring them along too.
Another reason is for the security of the dogs staying with us. With appointments we are in control of who is on the premises and when as we take the safety of the dogs staying with us very seriously. We do not feel you can get this with an “open door policy” so please do not be offended if you turn up without an appointment and are asked to phone up to make one.
Will my dog be exercised?
At Bridge House Kennels each dog has access to its own individual covered run, connected directly to their sleeping quarters. During the warmer months the dogs can access this all day as and when they choose. During colder days they will have periodic access to make sure they also stay snug and warm. In addition, we have our own extensive ground for those all-important on lead daily walks.
Can we bring our own food?
We are fully aware of the importance and benefits of feeding a well-balanced diet to your dog. We provided a range of quality foods, including Harringtons complete Lamb and Rice and Butchers Tripe mix canned, included in the price.
All dogs differ immensely in what they will eat so if you would prefer to bring what your dog usually eats at home, then you are welcome to do so and we will happily follow your instructions to feed it. This includes homemade cooked or raw food as we have fridges and freezes for storage.
What do we need to bring with us?
We provide absolutely everything your dog will require whilst staying with us.
Please arrive with your dog on their own lead for the safety of other dogs. In most circumstances we use our own leads for exercising your dog.
You are welcome to bring your dogs favourite toys and familiar bedding as smells from home can help your dog to settle.
Please do not bring any feeding bowls (especially ceramic) as we prefer to use our own, except in specific circumstances.
If you wish to bring in his/her own treats, then you are welcome, but they are in plentiful supply at Bridge House Kennels.
Please bring your dogs vaccination card at each visit so we can make sure our records are kept up to date. (see vaccination requirements.)
Does our dog need to be vaccinated?
All dogs boarding with us must have their annual vaccinations up to date when they arrive for boarding, and we will need to see the vaccination card before they are accepted into the kennels.
We recommend that your dog also has the Kennel Cough vaccination, but this is not a compulsory requirement at Bridge House Kennels. If you wish to have your dog vaccinated against Kennel Cough, please ensure this is done at least 14 days prior to your dog boarding with us.
Failure to produce evidence of vaccinations or the dog being vaccinated for Kennel Cough within 14 days of the date of boarding may result in refusal of entry to the kennels and your booking being cancelled.
